Error message: 'No digital media'

Question

My Dimension 4800C has stopped recognizing when I insert any disc into the CD-R drive. Makes no difference if it's a movie or SW.    I followed Predator's advice (on his page) to go to the Boot Device menu to get to the HW diagnostic screen, where I ran the tests.   It kept giving me an error saying something to the effect of: 'The disc contains no digital media. Do you want to try again with a software disc?'... which I did try and it gave me the same message.  But when I finally clicked 'NO' (I don't want to try again), it said that 'All Tests Passed' and that there was nothing wrong with my CD-R.   Can anyone help?   One further piece of info is that when I *do* insert a movie or piece of SW, the drive DOES immediately begin to spin - if I put my finger against the door, I can feel it moving. But no splash menu ever appears.     Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Boo,What is the name/model of the drive in question?Sometimes is can be a simple driver issue, at the CD/RW link, try Section 15, article 1.Best Regards! It is a: "QSI CDRW/DVD SBW242U"

By the way, I also went to your Section 15, Article 1 - and followed the instructions for uninstalling the device and rebooting. But once the device and driver were automatically reinstalled upon reboot - the problem remains.
