Error mssage: 0F00:0244

Question

I am capable with computers, but when I encountered this, I was stumped. I was trying to install Sims 2. It wasn't working, and when I restarted my Inspiron 1200 it would not log me on. A message pops up saying could not load local user profile. I went in to short tests through Dell, and it gave me the Error message above. Has Anyone had this problem before?

The hard drive has failed. You can confirm this by powering on, pressing F12, and loading and running the Dell diagnostics.

Yes, but does this mean nothing can be done?

If you mean, can you fix the existing hard drive? The answer is no. You may be able to read data off the drive, if need be. To try this, mount the drive in an external USB shell and attach it to a working system. If you can read your data, back it up to the working system. You will need to replace the drive with a new one and reload Windows on the notebook.
