Errors stating c:\ corrupt
Is my c drive shot or can it be fixed? Is it a matter of reinstalling Windows? Is this something a professional should look at to resolve?
When booting up my pc, I receive messages in a User Environment dialog box stating it could not find a profile. Then it states it could not load user profile but logged on with the default profile in the system. Then there is a note that file is corrupt.
A SAS Window winlogon.exe dialog box gives the message - File or directory c:\ is corrupt and unreadable. Run chkdsk utility. When I click OK, a new dialog box comes up
Tgcmd.exe - corrupt file with File or directory c:\ is corrupt and unreadable. Run chkdsk utility. When I click OK, a new dialog box comes up. Once I click on this multiple times a new dialog box comes up
Sprtcmd.exe - corrupt file with File or directory c:\ is corrupt and unreadable. Run chkdsk utility. I click OK multiple times for this and it goes away.
When I run the chkdsk utility, it states it is correcting error in index $I30 for file 5 twice. Then,
Index verification complete
Errors found. Chkdsk cannot continue in read only mode.
Please tell me the best path for resolution.

Hi, mpug4:
When you're prompted to run chkdsk, generally that's because Windows has detected a problem. The best way to test the drive is with the Dell diagnostic. Reboot and hit F12, select Utility Partition, then Custom test, and you can run the extended test on just the hard drive.
The path forward will depend on those results.
