Exploding CD

Catastrophy
My Daughter is crying. Her Sims2 CD exploded in our Dimension 2400 DVD Rom
It was a terrible noice and than a "bang" like when the ice cracks on a lake at winter time.

Can I get a new DVD player from Dell?
Could I claim for a new CD (the necessary disc) from EA games to be able to play  (Sims2)

Any advice is appreciated

Hi Hatte,

To my knowledge Dell will not replace the Sim 2 game if you purchased it Retail. As for replacing the drive and the game if purchased from Dell, you will need to contact Dell directly, either by phone, e-mail, "chat with us", or post in the Customer Care-General conference. The Dell-Tech may ask you to try and clean the drive, be prepared to work with the Tech.

Best Regards

I have contacted Dell support (unfortunately it is friday 23:30)

Next will Be EA games

It was a cool experience a CD explode

Like short cutting high voltage cables or like thunder, a sharp sound.

However I do not enjoy having to pay for a new DVD or buy the Game Sims2 another time to get that stupid CD.

Good night

Hi Hatte,

I am curious as to the ending of the last movie, a Predator~Alien hybrid, do not care much for that idea but I`m bias ..lol
I hope you get a good tech, I recall one or two people in e-mails mention getting a replacement drive after a exploding CD, but truthfully whether this is actually covered under the warranty I cannot verify, I really doubt it, however I wish you well and good luck.

Best Regards

Hi Hatte,

Ironic use of analogy of the sound in regards to high voltage fault..
I work for a Electric Power Company in Virginia and I have had the pleasure of seeing 69000v transmission line go phase to ground during a snow storm, made midnight look like noon for awhile.
Actually a pretty nice light show on snow covered background...

Best Regards
