External CD player/burner freezes my computer
Just when everything is working well......my CD burner/player blows out! I contact Dell as to what to do and they tech suggested I get an external CD burner/player.......so I went for it. I use my CD burner/player a lot for both my photos and music. So according to Dell I should get this Iomega CD-RW external drive.
First of all, my music records in mono instead of stereo.
Secondly, whenever I use this external CD buner/player, my pc always freezes up. What the heck am doing wrong? Anyone have a clue? I keep trying to "end tasks" and will not end and just freezes.........period.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, Sithros:
I would have advised against an external drive to replace a non-functioning internal drive (but then I don't get paid for my advice). For half the money, an internal drive will far outperform any external drive.
When does the drive freeze? During what sort of operations?

Hello Osprey,
sorry to take so long to reply. I wish I asked you folks before I bought this blasted external CD burner. I am able to burn CDs of all my photos with no problem. Where I have the problems are with burning music CDs. I purchase a lot of music from itunes and of course want to back them up with CDs and be able to play my CDs in my vehicle, etc. Whenever I try to burn my music from itunes or windows media player, the songs will indeed burn but then freeze my pc afterwards to the point I have to shut all down.
Not sure if any of this will help you figure out my problem but thought I would try all the same.
Many thanks!
