External Hard Disk

Question

Hi, Good Day! I'm not sure if my below query does belong to the said category. If not, request you to let me know the category under which I can post my question or I would really appreciate if someone can answer the same. I have recently bought Dell 1TB Portable Backup Plus external hard disk online but unfortunately there is no backup software installed in the same. The key features as mentioned in the product is that it comes with a dedicated backup software. When I consulted the retailer he told me to first register my product at Dell website and then I can download the software. But when I try to do the same it is asking for Service Tag & Emergency Service Code number which I did not find either on the box or on hard disk. After long research over the net I found out that there will be no service tags assigned to external hard disks:(. Can someone please help to advice or direct me here?  Thank you in advance. Pavan

Looks like a Seagate Drive to me:

I'm not sure what backup software was advertised for you presumably Dell Backup Recovery which requires a Dell system.
