Files missing after reformat
I had a blue screen error a while back and couldn't access my HD anymore. It's an internal drive for XPS410. A friend reformatted the drive and corrected the errors. I'm able to access it but a videos folder & My Pictures come up empty. He said that he was able to recover everything but not so.
Is there anyway at this point to still recover those missing files?

Hi Userx_076,
The first step before formatting the drive and reinstalling Windows is to back up your files. Normally you would use an external drive or flash drive, or maybe a writable CD or DVD. Did you do that?

I don't have anything to suggest except talk to your friend, and hope he knows what he was doing.

I spoke to him today. He said it would hae taken too long to do those files. He was pretty much lazy. I told him give me the backup so I can complete the job. Hopefully this gets wrapped up this week.
