Forget how to Format

I have an Inspiron 1150 and I need to format it, but I've completly lost the instructions that i used last time when I formatted it, I was wondering whether someone here could just tell me how to go about doing this.

Thanks

Ok, now it's formatted, but I've got another issue.  Whenever I startup Windows right before it starts up I get a message asking which version of Windows I'd like to boot up.  It lists Windows XP Home Edition twice.  Is there anyway to get rid of this.  It's quite annoying having to tell the computer to boot up Windows everytime.

Because you didn't do it properly.  If one option doesn't function, you can delete it by editing the boot.ini file.

Or, boot TO THE CD, not just stick the CD in.  Then, remove all partitions, make a new one(s), format it, and install XP.

Well, the second option doesn't work.  How do I edit the boot.ini file?

If up under windows, go to Start/Run and enter msconfig in the slot and click OK. Click the Boot.ini Tab and then click the button to check all boot paths. Then follow directions to delete the invalid boot path.
