Put your recovery cd in and restart the computer. When it restarts it will ask if you want to format when you install windows.

well wat u said would come up didn't.  but i have a new question.  How do i use this boot floppy disk that i made?  I put it in and restart and then i'm supposed to boot from the floppy right?  And then what?   Also what would happen if i opened a command prompt and typed "FORMAT C:" ??

would this just screw everything up?      thnx

systmkkd844.

You partition and format the hard disk C : as part of reinstalling XP.   The following document has instructions for the XP reinstall and paragraphs 5-11 has the details for partitioning and formatting.

Prior to reinstalling, make the CD/ROM the first boot device and remember to disconnect all external peripherals
from the computer, except the keyboard and mouse.
The following article, is how to configure a Dimension series system to boot to the CD/DVD drive.
