Full HD Backup?

Hi. Hope someone has an idea. I have a Dell Demension PC. I would like to Backup the entire 120 GB HD.   I got a new 250 GB HD that I would like to transfer all the files from my old HD to the new HD including OS and ALL files etc...so can I reformat and use the 120 GB HD for video editing with Pinnacle Studio 9 as a stand alone HD   Can this done somehow?   The guy at the PC store told me to just install the HD to the IDE cable which I did, but on boot up , the PC does not recognize the new HD at all. Just shows the original Maxtor HD as master on the screen and continues to load XP.   Hopefully...There is help out there...   Dave

You need a cloning utility. Some drive makers (WD, Seagate, Maxtor) supply these; others do not. If you don't have one, Acronis True Image or Symantec Ghost 10 are both solid choices.
