I would suggest you cosndier Clearing the NVRAM. Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 11, article 2. See if this helps.

I did just what the article said, but there was no jumper between those two prongs. I made sure it was the correct place, by both the diagram and by reading the Motherboard. I applied a jumper, but the system would not boot, so I removed it, and it booted up.
I have thought about reinstalling XP, for the System Restore has not helped any.
