hard disk read error occured when loading XP

Question

Hi all ,  i just bought Dell Vostro 1400 XP home OS today and when I first time switch on and key in my name and follow everything untill finish then I shut down. But when I switch on I got the message Hard disk read error occured. I just Use my laptop 30 minutes only and now I just can see the Message as above.   PLEASE HELP ME.....

Press F12 at powerup and boot to the Dell diagnostics.  Run the extended test on the hard drive.
