Hard Drive error message "2000-0148"

I have a notebook Dell Inspirion 6400, with a hard drive brand "Wester digital" interface Serial ATA with 5400 RPM, capacity of 120GB, but I ran the bios tester and this show me this error message:
    *Error code: 0148
    *Message error code: 2000-0148
*Message: Unit 0: IDE ERROR status 3Eno additional sense information

I tried to look for a answer for this message, on the site of Dell.com, but just said "ERROR HARD DRIVE", my warranty expired a couple months ago, so I can't call them(DELL TECH SUPPORT), and need your help, please somebody tell me something!!!

The idea is try to fix it, if is possible, but if not O.K. I will buy another one, but I want to know what is mean these message????

Thank you very much for the help can you  give me.

It means the system isn't sensing the drive. While you can try mounting it externally and attaching it to a working system by USB, when you see this error, the drive is usually beyond home recovery and will require a pro if you need the data.

Thank you very much for your help.

So the only way to fix this problem is replace it for another one????. Buy other new hard drive and use this by USB like backup disc.

Because is so stranger, sometimes works well and sometimes doesn't works well. And I have been formatted this disc like twice and I have been running some many tools for this hard drive, and the results is good.

So the problem is the sensitivity with what?

The drive is clearly failing, which is why formatting hasn't worked - replace it and use it as a paperweight.

Did replacing the HDD work for you? I'm getting the same error.
