Do you mean you can't format the drive? Try deleting and creating the partition information. Your Windows XP disc can do this if you set your system to boot from the CD drive.

you might try to clear the cmos first. also, might go into bios and set optimal settings. if you want to formatt,etc, boot with a win 98 boot floppy, be sure to set bios to boot from floppy. http://www.bootdisk.com, then delete all partitions, make a new one and make it active. they formatt. if you are unable to do anything, then you will have to look at the make of drive, go to their web site, and make a diagnostic floppy, each manufacturer usually has one, and then use it.

Thanks guys. I was able to boot from a 95 disk and reformatted and installed everything. I am just windering why the disk worked on one system but not on the other.

lot of times the bios or cmos willl not recognize the new hardware, and you have to re-formatt. have had to do this myself
