hard drive error...

hey..my computer was going really slow...i spoke with someone from tech earlier today and he said i needed to replace my hardrive...after waiting for about 30mins+ the OS loaded up...everything is still moving slow but i want to back up everything on my computer since he said i have to replace my hard drive...but i dont know how to back everything up...do i just burn everything to cds?

but thats all...i thought it was a automatic way i can create a back up disc...thanks

external shell?...lol..i think it bout to mess up again...

If you can, yes. If not, replace the drive, reload windows, and mount the suspect drive in an external shell. Connect it by USB and copy what you can.
