Hard drive needs something?

I got a dell latitude d600. it was missing the hard drive. So I went to bestbuy and bought a seagate 80 gig 5400 rpm Ultra ATA/100 HDD. Now I tried to slide the hard drive into the slot and it just sat there. I think there is something missing because the hole on the side is slightly larger. I checked dell site for removing the harddrive and it says you remove the screw to cover on side of laptop and slide out I think I need that piece that the hard drive sits in. Is that an adapter? Can I buy it after market because it looks like what ever is supposed to be plugged in has less pins in it. Please advise thx

Looks like you are missing the HDD caddy. Ran a seach on ebay; is the item show in the listing below not what you need.?

This listing comes complete with the screws and has the hard drive connector which would need to be plugged onto the Seagate hard drive's pins to make it compatible with the Dell connections.

Another solution is visit http://dirvesolutions.com and they offer hard drives with or without caddys. They offer hard drives for just about any make or model of computer. Depending on how much time you are willing to wait, maybe return your hard drive back where you purchased it and look at this website.
