harddrive

Hi.  I just installed a second hd on my Dimension E310 and I tried use disk management.  Instead of disk management saying to partition the hd, it gave me a volume to store files on.  I would like to partition the had and, if possible, install a operating system on it.  How do I clear "Volume G" and partition the second harddrive.  Please any assistance will be appreciated.  annrice44
