HD RECOGNITION PROBLEM 8200

I have an 8200 w/A02 bios. When I turn on the computer I have been getting a messege in a DOS screen that the computer doesn't detect a hard drive. I get options for F1 retry and F2 set up menu. If I fool around for 45min to an hour I can finally boot up.The first time it happened I saw in the set up menu that my primary drive 0 was set to off, Ichanged it to auto ,like the rest of the drive settings. when I finally got on I did a virus scan, ran Dell on line diognostics and did a system restore. After each occasion, I still have the same problem.

Replace the CMOS battery and clear the CMOS (enter setup, illuminate NUM, CAPS and SCROLL LOCK, then press ALT-E until you hear a tone; restart).

Thanks, I'll try it as soon as I get off work. The time and date are still accurate. would the battery be bad if so?
