Mike, I just upgraded my Seagate 80 to a WD 250.... so I am interested in your post as I have an E510 also.
just after warranty was up my power supply died. I order a new one (had to talk to serv & tech reps) to find one compatible. the new power supply has 2 fans versus one.
I hope you find an answer... and I hope my new HHD doesn't die too.
