hi, need help please!!!!

Question

Hi guys, i have a problem with my dimension 8200, i was on it the other day and for some reason a blue screen came up and it shut down, i havent been able 2 get it to work since, the harddrive was making strange noises, clicking, i tried re-installing windows to get it to boot from the cd but it said could not create a file on the harddrive so i cant reinstall, when i boot it it dosent beep at all, and then goes to a black screen which says a disk read error has occured and press ctrl+alt+del to restart, but when i do it just goes back to this screen.   Anyone got any suggestions? perhaps i need a new harddrive? also would it be possible to get the data from the computer back?   Thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated

bren212.   Sounds like the hard drive has failed, try replacing it.  Any brand of EIDE should be fine, except a Maxtor.   If the hard drive does not run, then recovering the data is just about nil, unless you use a data recovery company.   Bev.

hi, thanks for the reply, yea i figured as much :(:(, ill get a new harddrive and see does that solve the problem

bren212.   Shop around for the EIDE hard drive, if you are into rebates, there some excellent prices out there.   Bev.
