How to disable S.M.A.R.T. error message

I have an Inspiron 530 desktop with a hard drive which has generated a s.m.a.r.t. error message at startup for a long time now even though it is still working.  According to the Troubleshooting Guide for the Inspiron 530 "This feature can be enabled or disabled in BIOS setup".  I have not been able to find this option in the BIOS - can anyone help with this?

I would NOT be ignoring the error message. What if the hard drive is failing?????  Do you have everything backed up?????

Hi, cgeoghan:

Here is your system setup, although I admit I don't see anywhere to disable SMART.

I have a box of drives that display a SMART fault, and there do not appear to be problems with any of them. But to be clear, they are in a box, not in any system.

I have now installed a new drive and want to use the old drive for an old operating system and extra backup.  I still get the error message at startup when the drive is used as a secondary drive and I would like to disable it.
