IDE hard drive problems on E510
Here's my issue:
Have added a 300G IDE drive to the 3.5" diskette location in my new E510system. Things were fine and dandy, drive showed up, formatted, used to backup SATA drive. After several days, and a reboot, neither the CD or 300G drive attached to IDE port show up. Here's what I have done thus far:
If I connect only P8 power to disk and leave P9 disconnected to CD, disk shows up fine
If I connect only P9 power to disk and leave P8 disconnected to CD, disk shows up fine
If I connect both power connections, NEITHER device shows up (even in BIOS)
I've also replaced the IDE cable just for grins, with no change to the above.
Both IDE devices set to cable select.
Could the power supply be having problems driving both devices? That doesn't make any sense. If anyone has any ideas, I'm stumped.
Thanks!

OK...I'll try setting the master/slave when I get home.
As far as the question on how did I connect up a "standard IDE ribbon cable", there are 2 drops off a standard IDE cable, and I just attached one to the new drive I added (in the physical location where a diskette drive would normally go)
