SP3 should have been installed first, immediately after XP. Are you installing drivers from your resource disc or Dell downloads?

 

That error really isn't too informative. It's just telling you that it hasn't installed properly, just in case you did know that already.

I got the Dell drivers from the Dell website. I thought I downloaded all the drivers and reinstalled all the software but the DVD Audio codec is not installed and I cannot watch DVDs.

 

SP3 was not installed first because I did not have access to the Internet.

Do you have a DVD program? If not, try VLC Media Player (link in my signature).
