Installing Doom 3

I have an 8200 2.8 Ghz 1gig of Rdram and a ATI AIW 9600 card. I had to reinstall Win XP PRO and Doom 3 is the last program for me to install. When I put the first disc in it immediately goes to the Install shield and then reverts to the task bar. The other two discs obviously don't work. I have to ctrl-alt-del to get out of the install program and I then get a 1628 error. Can any one help me out here? My kid is driving me nuts. I checked with ID and Activision, no help at all. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. JJB

Hi JJB,

If you happen to have Sonic`s DLA program installed please consider disabling it, this has caused a number of issues with game installation.
Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to section 13-0, article 12.

Best Regards

I checked and I do not have Sonic DLA installed. Any other suggestions? Thanks for answering my post so soon.

Hi JJB,

Norton & McAffe Anti-virus has also caused some issues, consider diabling them for the installation. I also just got a PM from a friend, try Safe Mode. It worked for him.

Best Regards

Hi: Thanks for the tips. I tried everything you suggested except Safe Mode I will try that too. Does anyone know what a 1628 error is?

Well I tried Safe Mode and I got this error;    "1607 Unable to install Install Shield Scripting Runtime" My guess is that the disc is corrupted or ortherwise just doesn't work any more. Maybe ID software wants me to buy a new one. I am all out of guesses unless someone has a another suggestion. I am still willing to keep trying. Can't understand why this thing won't work when it did before. JJB. Thanks for your help and patience.
