Installing Windows 7 Error message
Trying to install windows 7 on a friends dell inspiron 1521 laptop and having trouble with it! an error at the start comes up saying that a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. if you have a floppy disk,cd,dvd or usb flsh drive , please insert now. Note. If windows installation media is in CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step. I have looked and downloaded and put many drivers on a cd/dvd disk but they dont seem to be recognised! I have tried to install this many times without success.. need help.

Hi Younggrizz,
Did you install the RAID driver during the installation process? Is Windows 7 installed except for the missing DVD drive?

no the error message came up about 20 seconds after i clicked on install! hasnt insalled yet!

Try setting the controller in the BIOS to ACHI mode. Or you may need to install the RAID drivers.
I don't see Windows 7 drivers for this model, however.
