Can you provide any more details of any symptoms that your laptop exhibited prior to the error occurring? Was this sudden? Were you experiencing problems sporadically before, and now your hard drive isn't being recognized? Did you recently replace or install any hardware? or your Operating System?
Have you checked your BIOS to make sure that your Internal HDD is included in the Boot order? The last time I got this error was when I was upgrading a laptop OS, and forgot to switch the boot order from CD back to the Internal HDD.
