kernel data inpage error

Can anyone help - I've had my Inspiron 1000 laptop for a couple of months and I've started to get the dreaded blue screen on a regular basis.  The message given is kernel data inpage error (Stop: 0x0000007A).  Spoke to Dell hardware support and did an extended diagnostic test but that didn't highlight anything so they've said it's a software problem.  Had a look through Google and all the forums say it is a hardware problem.

Feel like I'm not getting much help from Dell and tempted to send the laptop back but I'd rather not have to

Stop errors could be anything, more than likely it is software or a driver problem.

Update you drivers for your system and goto Windows update and see if there are any updates.

Run the Diagnostics again, if all the test pass then back up all data and reinstall os..after os reinstall update all drivers and windows to the latest available updates ...and after that if you still get the screen again ...call DELL and tell them that u have a hardware problem...probably with the memory
