Latitude D800 - HDD Problem

Hi @ all!

I bought a Latitude D800 with a 60GB hard disk.

The problem is that the hard disk makes clicking noise.

I downloaded the firmware update. But after the start of the "Drive Fitness Test" there is a message: The hard disk has not to be updated. (Or like this… I don't know the correct message).

I hope there is help for me, because the clicking is terrible :smileysad:

Best regards

Daniel

If its under warranty, have Dell replace it.  If not, you probably have a bad drive, and its a good idea to replace it.  Click is not normal.  Are you *sure* its the hard drive?

The notebook is very new (approximately 2 weeks).

I phoned the dell support hotline, but they said if the noise wasn't so loud, they won't change the hard disc.

I think that the noise is abnormal. I should keep my data on a safer medium (in my host computer for example).

But why Dell doesn’t want to change my hard disc, when they know it is not okay???
