master boot record change...system restore?

Question

I tried to install Novell Linux desktop with windows xp and it didn't go, i think the problem was in virtual memory management and xp storing stuff at the back of the hard drive. How do I use the hidden system restore if the Master boot Record has been changed?

I found it before I looked at your reply, and it worked like a charm, once I juggled a boot cd and a memory key. When these things happen it is good to ask for help, and then look for a solution just in case.
