master hard disk fail

Question

i have an older computer im trying to bring back to life just to mess with it but every time i try to boot it up it says primary master hard disk fail. i put in another hard drive i had laying around and it gave me the same thing does anyone know what could possibly be happeneing. i've checked the bios and everything looks to be fine. and i cant even get it to boot off of a cd. any help would be appreciated thanks

some support this is!!! stupid dell people saying we have the best support! this is the worst! ...i have the same problem with the hard drive not being found! guess dells just arnt worth buying!!
