Hi dheeeman,

You may try to install Media Direct before reinstalling Windows 7 on the computer.

I am afraid that Media direct  doesnot work in Windows 7 as the below steps shows to install Media Direct with Windows XP.

Using Media Direct disk install Media Direct. Refer the following link to install Media direct on the computer:

After reinstalling Media Direct, install the Operating system on the computer. Refer the following link which has steps to install Operating system:

To install the drivers in correct order, refer the following link:

Awaiting your response!

Lots of problems reported with media direct and windows 7. It is best to skip it with windows 7. It really is a XP utility that is not recommended for win 7. Google-- Dell Media Direct with Windows 7 -- to see more. Notice that most of the hits are old.

It works fine with Windows 7 if setup correctly. I have also got it working fine with Windows 8.

See Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean Install of Windows 7:

Ensure the partitions are setup before Windows is installed.
