mini dvds

i have a dimeson 4600 desktop i am not sure what the cd/dvd burner is i also have a dvd rom.  I have recently bought a canon dc100 dvd palmcamcorder that requires the mini dvds.  I have the maxwell dvd-r 30 min 1.4 gb but neither of my dvd drives will recongize them.  What can I do to watch these on the computer and burn them.

You might just have to finalize the disc while it is in the canon recorder. I just picked up a cannon camcorder that records to disc and I could only read the 30 minute discs after I finalized them with the cannon. Once finalized they played fine and I could copy them.

Hi Shawn,

Max is currently off line, so I will drop a note until his return.
Please go to Device Manager, click the "+" next to DVD\CD-ROM devices and list the name/model of your drive.
Someone can check the specs.

Best Regards!

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Predator, please feel free to drop a note even when I am online on anything I am posting on as I don't claim to know much anyway. Shawnyboy have you also tried the disc on a standalone home dvd player. Also in my instruction book with the cannon it kept emphasizing that while finalizing the disc do no move it around or jar it in any way as it can corrupt the disc. Could this be the case? I set mine down on the table then hit the finalize button so as not to jar it from setting it down or anything. Maybe try another disc and see what happens. But once it is finalized it should play on your computer and a standalone dvd player.

i finally got it to work.  I also tried to save it to the computer and that didnt work cause i wanted to be able to put all of them on one disc at the end of the season (daughter plays volleyball) but i think i will just put it on a vhs until i am more knowledgable about the camera and ripping and saving :smileytongue:  i appreciate all the helpful info you all gave me
