Missing files on CD-R disk
I have been using a CD-R disk to back up files with and this last time I inserted it to back-up files the disc shows that there is no files on it but there is 100 plus MB of the disc is used. This is the 2nd disc that this has happened to. I never had this problem on my old computer and burner. How do I keep this from happening again and how do I retreive the lost files?

What program do you use to burn the disks? Do the files you've already written to the disc show up in whatever program it is?
Do you 'Verify' discs once you've burned them?
You'll have to use a data/file recovery program to try and recover them, if all else fails.
Google, and you'll find dozens of 'em, but Recover Files is a FREE program.
It doesn't specifically mention CD/DVD media, but given everything else it can (attempt to) recover files from - including flash media, I would think it can also read CD/DVD discs?
As for how to prevent it happening again in the future: Such is the nature of CD/DVD discs, that... other than only using discs from respected manufacturers (I personally only use Verbatim), and keeping duplicate backups on (i.e.) an external hard drive or a pendrive, there's nothing much else you can do really.

I am not to computer literate so here is what type of drive I have, it is a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653A SCSI CdRom Device. I used Verbatim DataLifePlus disk. As for which program I use not sure, I use whatever the system uses. This disc happens to be for backing up my bank records. When I inserted the disc the last time and it autoruns it asks which program to use, I select view as file. Disc shows there are no files on disc. It shows there is only 600MB left and it is a 650MB disk. When I am finshed I right click on the drive and click eject, I get a message that states preparing disc to be read in other computers. Should I be doing something different when I end the disc? I need to be able to keep writing to it. I tried a trial version of isobuster it shows there is files on the disc but of course it is a trial version and would not let me open them. I appreciate the help.
