My C drv has errors; how to replace it?

Hi, I got the blue screen of death - it was hard drive failure (0x00000024).   I was able to boot to the utility partition and ran a test.  The test results confirmed there is an error on the hard drive in block 529212.

Now, I think I need to get a brand new hard drive, install it as primary, and make my damaged hard drive a slave.  And hopefully I can recover data from the damaged drive.

My question is, how do I reinstall Windows onto the new drive?  New Dell pc's nowadays do not come with an Windows CD.   The damaged hard drive probably contains a hidden partition that has the Windows image, but how do I get to it?  Please help, this is the first hard drive failure I have had in 15 years, so I have no experience.  Thanks in advance.

First you should request the backup disc containing the factory-installed operating system, specific to your system, from here.

How to replace the harddrive.

How to reinstall windows XP.

Bev.

Ps. If your system is not under warranty, you need to buy a SATA harddrive replacement
