NEC ND-3530A DVD read problem
My NEC ND-3530A DVD drive can not read game DVDs. When a game DVD is inserted, it starts reading the disk and then opens up the drive window but it shows an empty folder. There are no files showing which makes it real hard to install a game when it can not find the setup.exe file. The drive does somewhat recongnize the DVD disk because the drive icon (in this case D:) will change and show the title of the disk in the drive (i.e Quake 4, BF2) but again, the drive window will be emtpy.
The DVD drive can read DVD movie disks, music and game CDs.
I have installed a DVD game before (Battlefield 2) and played the game, but now it will no longer play the game or allow me to install other DVD based games.
System info: Dimension 9100, Window XP Home
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Graygoo,
The biggest issue we have seen with game installs has been related to Sonic`s DLA program. If you happen to have the software, please consider disabling it. Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 13-0, article 12.
Happy New Year !!
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Jeff,
Thanks. Your suggestion did the trick. It's up and running with no problems.
