Need some good help with driver software!

I got an XPS 480..the hard drive went out...and got me a new Seagate barracuda 2TB hard drive...Seagate doesn't suppy the driver software of course

and whlie downloading windows on it....it comes with a warning like..."Can't complete insallation on this computer"..loooking around the internet and doing some studies...I noticed I may need the driver software...under Dells Driver and Downloads...they got 750GB and 1 TB for the XPS 480...no 2TB!!

I tried the 750Gb/1 TB ones....they don't even show on the"Load Driver" list at all! So next step...called Dell...oh wait...my warranty is up...so u can only talk to someone if you pay!! Its not like my computer's broken...I just need a darn software...so I hung the phone up...and it is the same with getting internet help.

I don't believe you need a warranty to get a simple driver download software for my computer...and am now asking the public for help for my simple solution.

For those who want extra info"I am installing Window's Vista 32bit"...in load drivers...it does show my new hard drive...but will not install windows completely on it..

hence the reason I need Driver Software!!

SO I ask the audience in hopes of a solution please and ty!!

Hi Warpkun,

I think what you need to do is update the BIOS. What's the model number? Hint: there's no XPS 480.

Obviously, if you know how to find downloads, you could go there and get everything you need. But I'm happy to help if you need it.

Here's the BIOS update. This can be installed from DOS.

You can find all of your drivers here.

Let me know if you're still having trouble with that new drive.

ty for the bio update...now bios is updated...reinstalling windows though...yeah still failed...during the "Completing Installation on the Computer"

it says"Windows setup cound not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware" which still leads me to search for the software I need to surpass my

problems!! the driver software I need is for my Seagate 2TB- ST2000DM001

Are you using the Vista disc that came with your computer?

I don't believe the problem is with your hard drive, and there are no special drivers for that particular drive.

yeah I am...but yeah its not a hard drive problem just Dell doesn't have the software drive for me to load

so my windows can fully download onto the hard drive..been looking for it for awhile now..

Dell has the ST3000+ but I see no ST2000s I found a cool site which might have it...Intels site

so I will be checking around there since I read many forums that it has is somewhere on their site!!

That's a firmware update, not a driver. You do not have a driver problem.
