New Hard Drive

Question

I have been serching for a compatible hard drive for my Maxtor 6L040J2.  I bought this computer in the fall of 2002.  Upon thesearch on the internet I found out that this hard drive was out in 2000, two years before my purchase. Is there anything that wouldd work with my 'old' drive.   Thanks -   Rosemud

It may just be personal preference, but I find the Western Digital drives are more dependable and trouble free. wrs

Thanks I wrote to Maxtor, they replied that my hard drive is from the D740X  'family'  I can not find anything along this line anywhere. At first I thought it was strange that I couldn't find anything along this line. When reading the reviews, I found out that the drive was two years old when I bought the computer.   Rosemud

Any of the PATA / IDE drives will be compatible . . if it does not say SATA, it is PATA / IDE PATA = Parrellel ATA SATA = Serial ATA wrs
