New Harddrive Problems

I installed a 160GB harddrive in my Dimension 4400. The bios system which is A02 can see the harddrive but Windows XP can not. It is not visible in Windows Explorer at all. Will upgrading the bios system to A06 correct this problem so that my system can handle the bigger harddrive? I've been told that 160GB harddrives didn't exist when my computer was new and it might be more then A02 can handle.  If it's not the bios system then does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Did you partition and format the drive with the disc administrator?  If not, Windows cannot use it.

bluzangel2004.

See if the following generic instructions for installing an additional hard drive using Windows XP Disk Management, can help.
They are by Seagate, but apply to all brands.
