New memory module installed

Question

I purchased a 1G memory module from Dell and installed it into an available slot on the motherboard. I think I installed it correctly but, how do I verify? Does it matter which slot I use? I left the 2 modules that came with the system in place and used on of the available slots for my new module. I have an Inspiron 530. I believe it came with 512 MB installed. System Information lists Total Physical Memory 3,072.00 MB

Hi

You can boot the system into the setup screen by tapping the F2 key at the Dell logo. Once you hit enter on "System Status" tab and you will be able to see the amount of memory installed on the system.
