NTLDR is missing
I am using a Dell Demension 4100 with Windows XP Pro OS. When I turned it on this AM the dell screen came up and then a gray screen came up that said NTLDR is missing-press any key to restart. Nothing happens.
What do I need to do to get this PC to reboot?

Have you left a disk in one of your drives?

Curly Cue,
You can check to see if your hard drive is recognized in the BIOS. Also, could your boot configuration have been changed?

Curly Cue,
MS KB812492 may be a good place to start.

I don't know how I would create a bootdisc, when I can't get the pc up and running.
How do I check and see if the hard drive is reognized in the BIOS?
What can I do about the boot configuration?
This unit will not load enough to know what is going on. It only gets to the point of the Dell screen and then the gray screen with the NTLDR is missing message.

Go to the thread marked Dimension 8100 won't boot.... this must be a know problem - I called and called Dell swore my computer was fine and then it crashed after calling for months OH crashed just a few days after the warranty expired - convenient
