optical drive
I am having trouble with my CD / DVD drive. I can not use it every time I insert a disk, it does not recognize the disk and asks to insert a disk. I have tried many different disk and they all come with the same error. I checked the drive on the device manager and the device (HL-DT-STDVD+-RW_GT80N___A) shows there, but it does not work. I have tried to uninstall the device and by rebooting it does re-install. The drivers are up to date. Not sure what else I can do. Would appreciate if some one could help me. My PC is a OPTIPLEX 7010.

I have also ran the Dell Diagnostics, and the all pass, but I did not see the CD/DVD drive on the diagnostic run.

Try gently cleaning the laser lens with a soft cloth or compressed air. If that doesn't help,
It's a 10+ year old drive that's probably dead of old age and or use. A replacement drive will cost well under $50.
