Partition problem in XP
I just recived a Dimension 8300 with a 250GB HDD.
It had a small partition without a letter about 30MB and the rest was a primary partition.
I wanted to delete both and make 3 partition...something like 20% 20% 60%. Problem is that after i deleted those partitions the HDD doesn't show more than 130GB why is that? How can i have lost 120GB?
What have i done wrong? And most important how can i fix this?
Thanx

Oops. The old "delete first, ask questions later" problem.
Windows will not recognize more than 137-GB until you install SP1. So what you need to do is boot with your XP disc, allow it to create the boot partition (50-GB or whatever you prefer), then install normally. After installing the chipset drivers, go to Windows Update and download and install the SP1 service pack and all crtitical updates. Then when you boot to Windows, you will see the remaining unpartitioned space (something under 200-GB). You may then create the other partitions.
