reseat the cd drive, if that doesnt work......download the Notebook Setup Software in support.dell.com and also download the latest BIOS for your system......

 

other than that, Id say if none of those work.........replace the drive

I'm on my second philips drive and this is on it's way out. Call up dell and say its borked and they wil lsend one out provided it's under warranty. The only bad part is that Dell will just send out a refurbished drive.
