Philips DVD+RW 8601 ERROR CODE 0f00:136C
:smileymad: someone please help. I just bought a dimension 8400 and the dvdrw player is not working. it does not read or write any cd. it works sometimes but other times like today it just doesn't do anything. i ran a diagonstic and i got the error code 0f00:136c msg ide device failed blank media or no media is present in optical drive. (with disk, without disk same result). the dvdrw did not pass read, seek, confidence, or cdrom audio test. i check the driver and it says that it is working but its not. even when i don't have a cd in it, under prperties the dvdrw player still says that it is full. ugh~~~!!!! help please!!!

Hi Computerditz,
It looks as though Dell is now offering dual format drives factory installed, so brand name of the drive is needed even more now. Your drive, the 8601, requires the DVD+R and DVD+RW media, so make sure you are not using DVD-R or DVD-RW.
If you are using the correct media, open the case and re-seat the IDE cable going from the motherboard to the back of the drive. Re-boot.
If this does not help, try the following:
click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1; Section 20, article 3; Section 11, article 1 & 2.
If none of this helps, contact Dell bye phone, a replacement may be needed.
