Please insert a disk into drive D: - huh???

I've read through the various posts about people having problems about drives not reading, but I'm not sure any of the answers pertain to me.

Just last week my DVD drive (Sony DVD RW DRU 530A) was working just fine. Now when I try to get it to read from a disk that I know contains information I get the message that prompts me to insert the disk. I can't get it to read cd's or dvd's.

I've done the wizard through Device Manager about checking for any updates but it tells me that I have the most current version.

Please help!!

Thank you!!

I have had the DRIVE-letter be un-usable and the Software still move to the correct Drive Letter..
But a couple of weeks ago I did have all of my DRIVE Letters scrambled...I just performed a complete RE-Install of my OS and it all returned to correct settings....
Maybe some "Bug" was in the software....don't know.

Reinstalling the OS seems a bit drastic at this point. My suggestion would be to try a couple simpler things first.
