Power cable for SATA

Hi,

I bought a Hard Drive to upgrade my system. It does not have a power cable to install. Where can I get that. For Dimension 4700 there are 2 options with in the system like P4 and P^. Which one I need to use

There are two SATA drive power connectors, inside the D-4700 case, P3 & P5, you can use either.

Hi Bev,

Thanks for the reply. I saw the doc. In my system P4 is open and p6 is closed with black cap. Which one I have to use P4 Or P6? Can I use any one of those.

When I cantact Dell Spare parts, they said it is part # Y5528. Is this is the same one I am looking for. Could you Pl guide me.

Thanks for time,

Hyma.

If the hard drive you wish to install a Serial ATA then you use either P3 or P5.  If the drive is ATA/IDE then you can use P6 [4pin] just remove the black plastic safety cap.

Note = All the connectors are "keyed", to avoid mistakes.

The Dell part # Y5528 is a SATA data cable, not a power cable, same as the cables shown here,
