PowerDVD DX Version 7
Ok I have had my xps for about 1 year now. I used to watch blu ray movies on here till I got a PS3. Now I want to watch blu rays again. When prompted I downloaded 2 new updates from the cyberlink website. I installed both patches and now whenever I try to watch a blu ray movie, it keeps telling me that I need to download a critical update. Yet, when I click on this it says no new update available. It just keeps me in this ever rotating circle of saying need new patch and no patch available. HOW CAN I FIX THIS???? I have went to the dell site and cyberlink site and still no answer.
Thanks for any help.
Dan

Hi, Dan:
A quick search of the Cyberlink site found this. Let me know if that helps you.

No it did not. I can't even get to that dialouge box. All i see when I load Powerdvd is need critical update, then when I click ok it tells me no update available. Thats it. Never anything else. Ive even tried reinstalling and it gives me the same 2 patches to download and starts me in the circle again. Whats funny is Im using blu rays that I have watched on here before so it has to be a software problem since they are not playing now.

Yes, it's the AACS key issue. Did you try any of these updates? If so, contact Cyberlink for more help.
I personally find all Cyberlink products to be troublesome and prefer to use something else.

yes I did, but they are not compatible since this is the Dell DX version of PowerDVD.

I am having the similar problem you are having. Did you get a resolution to your issue? I just sent Techinical support with Cyberlink a ticket request and I am now waiting to hear back from them. But this is very frustarting when all I want to do is watch a movie and not lose 5 hours of my day trying find a solution and fix this problem.

Thank you, I have the same issue that jedidan stated here. I have a Dell XPS 420 system with the Cyberlink Power DVD Dx 7.0 that came with my desktop. I'm stuck in this circle of needing a critical update, but there is no update and it won't play my Blu ray movies. I can play regular DVDs, but not blu rays. I had this problem before when I first got my computer. Somehow the software seemed to work after troubleshooting it with a Dell rep. The software was black in appearance when it played my blu rays. I then got the dreaded critical update message and clicked the update button. The software appearance went back to a blue color and I was never able to play a blu ray since. I have been caught in this circle of it wanting and needing this critical update, but it can never find it as it later states there is no update avaiable, but it clearly needs one because it won't play my blu ray movies without it.

Hi Jazminep,
I'd like to help but you need to tell me what's wrong and what model and OS you have.

My recommendation would be to buy a current version of PowerDVD Ultra, which will play blu ray and will be supported by Cyberlink, which the Dell version is not. If you want to be sure it will work, go to the Cyberlink site and you can download a trial version.

I'm sympathetic, Jazmine. Believe me.
