Is the recordable CD brand new?  If you are using a CD-RW or even a CD-R that has previously been formatted for use with Direct CD (or another packet writing program) this could be causing the problem.  If you are using a CD-RW, use the erase utility to erase the disc (not format), then try writing to it with Easy CD.  If you are using CD-R, use a brand new disc.  If none of this applies, then you may have a corrupt Direct CD file, uninstall and reinstall the Direct CD program.

Stop any running programs like virus software, firewall, or anything in startup folder.
