Theoretically it should matter if it's in the master or slave position. My NEC 2500 is in the slave (csel) and works fine. But I have seen messages on CDFreaks.com that NEC users had problems and solved it by moving the frive to master. Give that a shot.

I have tried it as the master, and as a single drive by taking out the other dvd rom attached. Then i tried it at a friends house and it
seems to work on his with no issues whatsoever. Then i decided to look for upgrades / patches for my system. I have tried this
and still i get the command sequence error, which leads me to believe it is a set up on my machine or the ide cable / mother board or
chipset. I have considered doing a format c and re install the whole lot but i would rather do that as a last resort.
Any one have any ideas as to why the configuration of my pc / set up of my pc would have compatibility issues with my dvd burner?
