Problem installing Windows XP x64
Hi I'm new in this forum :D
Well my questions are this:
I want to install Windows XP x64 but the problem is that the setup doesn't recognize my Raid Array.
I've a Dell XPS 600 with a Pentium D 3Ghz, 320GB (160GBx2 Raid 0), and the Raid Controller is the on-board nvidia nforce.
I know that i can resolve the problem installing the drivers in the setup pressing F6, but I don't have a floppy drive to install them :(
Any idea that could help to resolve my problem?
And the other question is, can i partition my disk with the Raid 0 array? I want to install Debian :D
Thx.
And sorry but my english is not the best.

You could go with a USB floppy drive to load the drivers. That worked with my XPS600 and Win XP Pro. Or you could create a Win XP x64 install disk with the Nvraid drivers slipstreamed. See if this article is any help. Note that the Nvraid drivers have passed WHQL certification since that article was written, so they should work with a floppy.

I've never tried it, but my guess is no. During bootup you're prompted to insert the floppy with the drivers on it and there's no option to look elsewhere like loading drivers under Windows.
For $15 I went with a USB floppy and that worked after I enabled it in BIOS. That's about the same price as a key drive, although not as useful.

$15 is a good price for a USB floppy drive. Been thinking about getting one for my xps600 and dell notebook that did not come with a floppy drive.
Compusa has a pny 1 gig flash drive on sale for 30 dollars this week. Thought I'd buy one and give it a try instead of the floppy.
After I wrote you, I wasn't sure if you could boot from USB.
Happy about your good fortune with your problem.
What are the advantages of XP x64?
Regards........

If you use nero 7, or roxio 8, you can take a win 98 boot disk, make an iso image of it, then load it in a virtual drive, copy your drivers to the virtual drive, edit the autoexec.bat file to see the files, then save your work, unload the virtual drive from memory, and burn the iso you just created to a "bootable cd in nero, or roxio. when you boot to this drive, you system will be fooled into thinking this is your floppy drive. then load your win setup disk in your second optical drive, at the dos prompt, type X:/, where x = the drive letter for your second drive, type setup from there, at the f-6 prompt point to drive a:/ for your drivers, and your off and running
